Nye's Polonaise opened in Minneapolis in 1950 and was closed and torn down in 2016.  Although it was rebuilt soon after, it is not the same as it once was.  Nye's was known for its retro atmosphere, Polish food, a sing-along piano bar, and for being home to the World's Most Dangerous Polka Band.

In the late 1990s and 2000s, Nye's was one of my favorite hangouts.  We would watch bands rehearsing, chat with Corky the bartender, and see it transform from a quiet bar to the "Best Bar in America" (Esquire Magazine, 2006).

In 2017, I built my first notable LEGO model, inspired by Nye's, which gained semi-viral attention on Facebook.  I was even interviewed by the news and featured in an article in the Star Tribune's Variety section. This brief 15 minute of fame led me to create more LEGO models, but none quite like my first – Nye's Polonaise.
